Powered by Windows Storage Server 2003 (WSS 2003), and optimised for storage-specific management and applications, the Tandberg Viking-FS 1610 NAS ensures ease of deployment, flexibility and seamless integration into customers' network environments. Users familiar with the Windows environment will find it very easy to configure the Viking NAS. WSS 2003 comes with an unlimited number of Client Access Licenses. All file sharing protocols, such as CIFS/SMB, NFS, AppleTalk, DFS, HTTP&FTP and Storage report manager, are supported.

Ease of Deployment

The Tandberg Viking-FS 1610 NAS is easy to deploy. There is no need reconfigure the network for file- or block level access. It allows users to customise different RAID levels for protecting the OS partition. In the event the Viking-1600 NAS needs to be restored, the recovery DVD brings the Viking-FS 1610 NAS back to factory default in minutes.

Easy Integration of Backup and Archiving

The Viking-FS 1610 NAS allows direct connection to tape drives, autoloaders or libraries through it's Ultra320 SCSI controller. This makes it the perfect device to further enhance data protection and offline staging for restores or archiving. The Viking-FS 1600 NAS can be implemented as a tiered storage device, a backup server or a centralised file sharing device.

Using the latest in SATA HDD technology, SATA II coupled with hardware RAID, the Viking-FS 1600 NAS offers abundant networked storage capacity and performance, combined with maximum data availability.
