Tandberg Data Boosts RDX QuikStor™ Capacity

Tandberg Data Offers new 640GB RDX cartridge, the largest removable disk in its class

Boulder, CO (November 10, 2009): Tandberg Data, the global supplier of data protection solutions, today announced that it has expanded its RDX QuikStor™ cartridge capacity offerings to include the 640GB RDX QuikStor cartridge. Designed for use with RDX QuikStor drives, the new cartridge provides 640GB of storage, allowing customers with larger data sets to simplify media management and reduce cartridge swap time.

The RDX QuikStor is a disk-based removable storage system with portable cartridges that offer rugged, reliable and convenient backup, ideal for the SMB market. It combines the benefits of tape – reliability, portability, archive life and low cost – with the performance, speed, random access and ease of use of hard disk technology.

In addition to the new larger capacity 640GB RDX QuikStor cartridge, SMB customers can choose from a range of RDX cartridge capacities, including 80GB, 160GB, 320GB and 500GB. All RDX QuikStor cartridges are removable for off-site storage, disaster recovery and archival applications, and are built to last more than 10 years with normal use.

The 640GB RDX QuikStor cartridge provides small business users with a unique and robust backup alternative to tape. With its native 45MB/sec. transfer rate, Tandberg Data’s RDX QuikStor allows users to access any file in milliseconds while cutting their backup window from hours to minutes. In addition, the RDX QuikStor’s forward compatibility enables users to preserve their technology investment because all future RDX cartridges will work in today’s systems.

RDX FileKeeper

A copy of RDX FileKeeper software is included with every RDX QuikStor drive kit, providing customers with simple, “always on” protection and a complete backup of all system and application data. In addition to RDX FileKeeper, RDX QuikStor is compatible with most popular backup software, including EMC Retrospect, Symantec Backup Exec, Yosemite Backup, CommVault Galaxy and CA ARCserve software.

Availability and Pricing

The 640GB RDX QuikStor cartridge will be available in mid-November 2009 through Tandberg Data’s established channel of distributor and reseller partners. The manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) of the 640GB RDX QuikStor cartridge is $450.
