Cannot connect to shares after changing the Host Name
(KB # 9FD7804B)

Applies to: BizNAS (all models running software version v2.3.8.20130917-154207 or v2.3.9.20131007-180132)

Use these instructions if you are have changed the Host Name of the BizNAS and cannot access shares from your computer even when specifying a valid user name and password.

  • Reboot the BizNAS using one of the following methods, then attempt to reconnect to the shares.

Method 1: Reboot using the BizNAS power button

  1. Press the power button on the BizNAS front panel for 2 seconds.
  2. Wait for the BizNAS to power off.
  3. Press the power button on the BizNAS front panel for 2 seconds.
  4. Wait for the BizNAS to boot.

Method 2: Reboot using the BizNAS web interface

  1. Connect to the BizNAS using a supported web browser
  2. Reboot the BizNAS by:
    1. Clicking on the power icon at the top of the BizNAS web screen, then selecting “Reboot” from the dropdown menu. (Figure 1)
    2. Click on “OK” when the warning dialog says “You are about to reboot the system.” (Figure 2)
  3. Wait for the BizNAS to boot.
